"Compasion"
36 The Lord will see his people righted, And will have compassion on them when they slip. TLB Dear reader I like this verse, it is like one of the most precious promises from the Lord. Compassion is a love that goes beyond the limit that we find in a relationship. This month is Feb. the month of lovers, hearts and flowers. Valentine day is usually celebrated with a lovely dinner, a gift and a card that gets tucked away in a box of memories.
Compassion is more that these we slip up
many times through
out the day and with the compassion of the Lord He helps us
right our wrongs.
The most loving Heavenly Father gave His only Son for the
salvation of mankind,
and that is compassion without measure.
When we think the offer the Lord made for
us, we have to
begin to evaluate the compassion we show to others. Jesus
was our greatest example.
Beginning with Matthew, then Mark and finally Luke. They all
are very taken by
the compassion of Christ for all the poor and sick sinners.
I say that because
we know that in most cases sin lays back of sickness.
Jesus
was a good
shepherd; He had compassion when He saw the people like
scattered sheep. All
good shepherds gather their sheep because they are their
property and they also
want them protected. The multitude did not understand that
this man a
carpenter’s son was sent to them to protect them from evil
and to claim His
flock. 37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest
truly is plenteous, but
the He also know The disciples did not know at the time
that they would be
called to be the laborers to gather in the harvest.38 Pray
ye therefore the
Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers
into his harvest.
32
Then his lord,
after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked
servant, I forgave
thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
33
Shouldest not thou
also have had compassion on thy fellow servant, even as I
had pity on thee?
The king heard about and punished the
servant for his lack
of compassion. This is the parable that Jesus told to His
disciples, hoping to
show them how they too must feel compassion for others. Luke
gives us the
parable of the "Good Samaritan"
31
"By chance a
priest came along. But when he saw the man lying there, he
crossed to the other
side of the road and passed him by. 32 A Temple assistant
walked over and
looked at him lying there, but he also passed by on the
other side. 33
"Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the
man, he felt
compassion for him. 34 Going over to him, the Samaritan
soothed his wounds with
olive oil and wine and bandaged them.
Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him. 35 The next day he handed the innkeeper two silver coins, telling him, 'Take care of this man. If his bill runs higher than this, I'll pay you the next time I'm here.' 36 "Now which of these three would you say was a neighbor to the man who was attacked by bandits?" Jesus asked. 37 The man replied, "The one who showed him mercy." " Then Jesus said, "Yes, now go and do the same." NTL
We all know this story dear reader but
have we taken it to
heart? I have a few questions, which I too must consider.
How many people do we
see in one week and show compassion to them that are in need
of it? How many
lives have we seen changed because we showed compassion to
them?
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY
